Spicy Chicken Stew


Hot & Spicy Chicken Stew - 닭도리탕

In Korea, we call it "Dak-do-ri-tang", this is hot and spicy chicken stew that you serve with rice. 
This recipe is very easy, simple and delicious! 

Ingredients (Serving for Two)
  • 8 pieces of chicken drumsticks
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 medium size potatoes
  • 1 sweet potato
Ingredients for Paste:
  • 3tbs of Sugar
  • 2tbs of Soy sauce
  • 1tbs of Red pepper flakes
  • 4tbs of Hot pepper paste/ Go-chu-jang
  • 1tbs of Sesame oil 
  • 2tbs of Sesame seed (optional)
  • 1tbs of diced garlic / 3~4 cloves of minced garlic 


1. Wash the chicken and put them into a pot


2. Pre-boil the chicken for about 5mins to get rid of unnecessary oil from the chicken and drain.



4. While the chicken is boiling, prepare potatoes, sweet potato, carrots and onion into bite size.

5. Mix all the paste ingredients into a bowl.

 6. Mix all the ingredients with the paste. 














7. Pour 2 cups of water into it and put it on a stove in medium heat setting. 















8. When it starts to boil then cover and reduce heat to simmer for about 10mins 
     (Stirring occasionally)


9. Serve with a bowl of rice :)
